Protect The Plants

Save Cub Creek

What’s the deal with pumping the poop?

The Cub Creek and Cub Creek Wetlands are located around the Lakota neighborhood of Winter Park, CO. This is a crucial water source for native wildlife and the Fraser River. A recently appointed Metro District for the Lakota Pointe development in the area has proposed an easement for a sewer connection through the creek that will significantly impact the water flow, remove old-growth trees, and disrupt wildlife corridors. The Metro District has filed to condemn private property and HOA open space for this project.

An environmentally friendly alternative to this problem is the construction of a modern lift station to bring sewage up to the existing sewer line beneath Lakota Trl. This is already a common practice in Grand County.

Without strong support from the community encouraging our town officials to require a responsible solution, it is likely the power given to the Metro District will allow them to proceed. Please join in the fight to protect our beautiful and unique habitat. Take Action

The Proper Process

It is vital to consider the impact of sewer construction on the environment, particularly on plants and wildlife. Unnecessary sewer construction can lead to the destruction of natural habitats, disruption of ecosystems, and potential harm to various species.
Before initiating any sewer construction project, thorough environmental assessments should be conducted to determine the potential impact on local flora, fauna, and water sources. Alternative solutions such as utilizing existing infrastructure and environmentally friendly construction techniques should be explored to minimize the disruption to natural surroundings.
Furthermore, it's crucial to involve environmental experts and ecologists in the planning and decision-making process to ensure that the construction activities do not harm the local biodiversity.
Protecting plants and wildlife from unnecessary sewer construction requires a comprehensive assessment of environmental impact and a commitment to implementing sustainable and ecologically responsible solutions. By taking these measures, we can safeguard the delicate balance of our ecosystems while meeting the needs of growing rural areas.
